Introduction to Module 3: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Health
Module 3 discusses the United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and health. In Module 3, learners will explain how a randomly selected UN SD Goal impacts health, in 1 paragraph or less. The health of our nation is important to all stakeholders. As nurses, we are in a unique position to critique policies and view how these policies impact the health of our populations. Health can be impacted by the inability to attend school, lack of adequate or hygienic water, lack of [electric] resources to run medical equipment, the economy, as well as a lack of food. In this module, you will spin for a random United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). You will then explain how the one random UN Sustainable Development Goal impacts health.
Learning Objectives:
Module 1. Learners will describe three activities to contribute to sustainable development (SD).
Module 2. Learners will describe one way to contribute to sustainable development (SD) in their neighborhood/community.
Module 3. Learners will explain how one of the United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) impacts health.
Module 4. Learners will describe one approach to integrate the United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in education.
Module 3: Materials, Resources, & Learning Activities:
Watch and listen to You Tube Video, "Sustainable Development Goals Explained,"
Review the United Nations website, "United Nations Sustainable Development, 17 Goals."
Review the UN SDGS Interactive mindmap of the 17 SDGs
Spin the UN SDG Wheel, for a random United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
Module 3: Interactivity: Have fun! The UN SDG wheel is a non-graded activity!
***Please note: You need to access and spin the UN SDG wheel activity to answer your "Module 3: SDG & Health -Paragraph," assessment for submission.
You will not submit the UN SDG wheel, as this activity is needed to help you complete the non-graded assessment and submission.
After completing the learning activities: Learners will spin the UN SDG Wheel, for a random UN SDG.
Spin the UN SDG Wheel and it will land on a random UN SDG.
You will then find the one Sustainable Development located on the United Nations website, "United Nations Sustainable Development, 17 Goals."
Hoover over then click on the selected random Sustainable Development Goal, located on the "United Nations Sustainable Development, 17 Goals" (UN SD, 17 Goals) website, that you chose on your UN SDG Wheel spin.
Tap the button on the UN SD 17 Goals website that states, "more info," for additional information about the SDG, that was selected when you spun the UN SDG wheel.
Once you tap, "more info," a box will open up, scroll down to the section, titled, "Overview."
Read the brief overview about your SDG on the United Nations website, "United Nations Sustainable Development, 17 Goals."
The UN SDG wheel does not get submitted.
Module 3: Assessment and Submission:
There is 1 (one) assessment and submission for Module 3.
Non-graded assessment and submission, titled, "Module 3: SDG & Health -Paragraph."
Learners will explain how the randomly selected UN SD Goal impacts health, in 1 paragraph or less.
After you have spun the UN SDG wheel and have selected a random UN SDG, complete the Module 3 assessment titled, Module 3: SDGs & Health - Paragraph.
Write one paragraph about how the one randomly selected SDG, you chose, impacts health.
Submit the Module 3: SDGs & Health-Paragraph, by clicking on the submit button.
After you have completed the "Module 3: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Health," write-up, tap the submit button, to submit the "Module 3: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) & Health," write-up, by Sunday, 11:59 PST, by the end of Week 3, Module 3.
