A fishbowl debate is a type of respectful discussion that is used when there are two distinct positions on a topic. This technique allows for a richer conversation on topics, and grants groups of students the opportunity to work together to defend an opinion. This also provides us the opportunity to respectfully debate in the classroom. The goal of this technique is to gain insight about the other perspective by taking the opportunity to actively listen and formulate respectful responses/questions throughout the various debates.
