Before we dig more deeply into argumentative writing, let's continue to think about what makes arguments effective while at the same time keeping our narrative writing skills strong. You will have 40 minutes to complete the following narrative On-Demand. It is a stand alone prompt.
Writing Situation: General Colin Powell once said, "Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand." We have all faced times in our lives in which we were involved in a significant argument or debate.
Writing Prompt: Think about a time when you were involved in a significant argument. Write a story about that time, inclulding how the argument arose and what was the outcome. Be sure to narrate an event or a series of events and to include specific details so that the reader can follow the argument effectively.
