This is a question that a lot of people have, and we are going to discover the answers.
Before the Bible was in written form, it was handed down from one person to another by reciting it. When people started writing it, they had to do so from memory and by hand. There are thousands of ancient copies of the New Testament, and the amazing part is that they were all exactly the same! This helps us know that it wasn't just made up.
The Bible is our source of knowledge about God, Jesus, God's Rescue Plan - Christianity. The best source for knowlege of Jesus would be from his followers, who are the people that wrote and copied the Bible.
There were other historians who didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, who wrote about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. They even wrote about the followers of Jesus. They were not intending to write about Jesus - their job was to write the history of the time. The fact that they mentioned Jesus shows not only that he was real, but that he was a pretty big deal. Having multiple accounts of what happened to Jesus supports that the events of his life, death and resurrection actually happened.
But, the question "How do we know Christianity Is really true? is actually a personal question. Historical facts tell us these things happened. The questions is, do you believe that Jesus is your Savior?
Jesus came to earth because he had a purpose and plan to save us. We see this in John 3:16-17:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send this Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
Read Acts 5:33-39. These were words spoken by a Jewish leader. Jewish leaders followed the Old Law - the law given to Moses but didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah. What happened to each of the people mentioned? What did the Jewish leader warn would happen if the followers of Jesus (Christians) were really on mission for God?
What do you think it means to believe in Jesus - not just know about him?
What is one step you can take this week to learn more about Jesus?
Pray and thank God for His Word, the Bible, so that we can learn about Him.
