This blanket captures my son's first year, week by week, every Tuesdays.
This blanket captures my daughter's first year, week by week, every Wednesdays.
These blankets are about 75 cm long and 50 cm wide, with 6 squares horizontally and 9 squares vertically. Each granny square corresponds to a week of the birth year (hence 52 squares), and the temperatures are chosen following daily and monthly data:
core, average temperature of the month
second row, minimum temperature of the day of the week
third row, maximum temperature of the day of the week
external row gets a neutral colour for assembly.
The remaining two squares (6 x 9 = 54, and not 52!!) represent characters that my children love. The pattern uses a round in a square for a size equivalent to a 4x4 granny square.
Finally, the border consists in two rows, starting with single crochet (US term) to homogenise the edges, then double crochet to complete the decoration.
