Practice each of the Word Online features and add-on apps provided below.
After completing each of the Word Online features and add-on apps complete the Word doc you downloaded (see homepage for link if needed).
Complete the chart below by indicating which area of AT and UDL is supported by the skill area provided through the accessibilty feature of the app.

Step 1
Choose a document type or open an existing document.
Insert (toolbar)
Online Pictures
Click “Insert’” on the ribbon
Click on the “Online Picture” icon if you are adding a picture file you have in your computer
Click “Pictures from Bing”
A pop-up Bing search window will appear
In the search box, type the name of the desired image
From the search, click on the image(s) that you desire to be inserted
Click on “Insert
Office Add-ins
Click “Insert’” on the ribbon
Click the “Office Add-ins” icon
A new pop-up window will appear (shown below)
Click “Store”
Click “Education”
Suggested education add-ins will appear
Click “Add”
The new tool will be available in your Add-ins menu
Symbol
Place the cursor over the area you wish to insert the symbol
Click the Symbol icon
From the pop-up window click on the desired symbol
Emoji Keyboard (Office Add-in)
Place the cursor over the area you wish to insert the the Emoji
Click the Emoji Keyboard icon
From the pop-up window click on the desired emoji
Open OfficeMaps (Office Add-in)
Place the cursor over the area you wish to insert the Office Map
Click the "Open OfficeMaps" icon
In pop-up window enter the location address, then click "insert"
Scan and Paste (Office add-in)
Get free mobile applications from Google Play or App Store
Pair your phone with the following QR code (in the pop-up window) and add pictures to your document
Take photos
Click on the refresh icon
Double-click on the image(s) you wish to insert
Click "Forget Me"
Review (toolbar)
Check Accessibility
Click the "Check Accessibility" icon
The accessibility checker will review the entire doucument
In the review window, correct any identified issues
Alt-Text
Double-click or right-click on an image
Click the "Alt-Text" icon
In the pop-up window, enter or edit the "title" and/or "description" of the image
Translate
You can translate a slection or an entire doucument.
Click the "Translate" icon
A pop-up window will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. Click on the “To” dropdown menu to select a language to translate the document to
Once the desired language has been selected, click on “Translate” (in the pop-up window) to translate the document
Select “Insert” to enter the translation into the document
View (toolbar)
Click “View” on the ribbon
Click on the “Immersive Reader” icon
The Word Online Document page will reopen into a new window displaying just the text
The reader will start reading aloud
The entire page becomes a shade of gray
The word being read aloud is highlighted with a white square and the sentence line being read appears in dark black font
Text Preferences
Click “View” on the ribbon
Click on the “Immersive Reader” icon
Click on the “Text Preferences” icon
A new pop-up window will appear
Grammar Options
Click “View” on the ribbon
Click on the “Immersive Reader” icon
Click on the “Grammar Options” icon
A new pop-up window will appear with options for syllables and parts of speech
Reading Preferences
SYLLABLES
Turn "Syllables" by clicking in the slider
The words are separated into syllables
PARTS OF SPEECH
To turn on the parts of speech for nouns, verbs, or adjectives click on the slider next to the parts of speech you wish to modify
To customize the color of a particular part of speech click the drop-down arrow next to part of speech you wish to modify
A pop-up window will appear with color choices
Click on on the color you prefer. It will be the new color will be assigned to that part of speech
LINE FOCUS
To turn on the “Line Focus”, click on the slider bar
There are three choices available: single line, a small group of lines, and a larger group of lines
Home (toolbar)
The Ribbon (aka the toolbar)
Click on the "Taskpane" icon
Write the math equation (horizontally or vertically).
Click on "Insert"
The handwritten text is converted and inserted into the document
Taskpane (MyScript Math Sampler- Office Add-in)
Speech-to-Text
Click anywhere in the document where you whish to enter text
Click on the "Dictate" icon
Click "allow"
You will hear a beep and see a red dot appear on top of the icon. This indicates that speech-to-text is active
Speak, and the text will appear as you talk
Click on the "Dictate" icon to stop
You can dictate in a different language by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to “Dictate” to view more language options. Click on the preferred language

Full Editing
Click on the "Editor" icon
In the pop up window (right pane) you can choose which area you wish to review and correct.

Use @mention in comments to tag someone for feedback
Open a document that's saved in a SharePoint library or OneDrive for work or school.
Add a comment from the context menu or from Review > New Comment.
Type @ and the first few letters of the person's first or last name, and then pick the name you want (If they don't already have permission to open the document, you'll be asked to provide that).
