I love doing this challenge with my students as one of our intro lessons to get familiar with the LEGO WeDo 2.0 kits. But, all you need is a box of random LEGO bricks and pieces and some creativity. It's great for rapid prototyping so students can make and compare multiple solutions and practice fair testing procedures. At home you could set up a family challenge to see who can build a top that spins the longest. We also had a Spinning Toys station for our Family STEM events for students to make and keep their own spinners.
