Taylor Swearingen crafted a three-part essay series on Substack highlighting her home of Jackson County, Florida, and the effects recent School Choice legislation will have on rural public schools and communities across the state. Swearingen included real, human perspectives through interviews with Marianna K-8 Principal Jessica Larkin and Superintendent of Jackson County Schools, Hunter Nolen. Throughout her series, Swearingen aimed to offer a clear, digestible view of how sweeping the effects of one piece of legislation can be. Her conversation was framed in a bipartisan light, recognizing that issues such as equitable public education need not be polarized but personal when we all fight for one common goal: advancing the fight for a stronger, more just educational landscape for all children across Florida.

In his paper, Tobias Moore employs rhetorical analysis of Bob Dylan's 2020 song "Murder Most Foul," reflecting on the assassination of John F. Kennedy, to explore how American sociocultural trauma is manifested through art and pop culture. Moore also examines the often overlooked importance of nonverbal forms of rhetoric like sound, and further demonstrates how the auditory qualities of a musical piece impact its rhetorical function through a creative stylstic reimagining of Dylan's song.

Sophia Ferraro analyzed how the Infinity Castle setting in Demon Slayer metaphorically represents hell. From character dynamics to the literal design of the space, she dissects how Infinity Castle contributes to the overarching themes of the story and what "hell" means to both the narrative and the characters experiencing it.
Phoebe Rando wrote this paper about the Gap “Better in Denim” commercial that was posted in August of 2025. The paper was a rhetorical analysis of the commercial in comparison to the American Eagle Sydney Sweeney ad that was posted earlier that month. It focuses on the theory that the Gap commercial was a silent protest to our political climate right now.

Sydney Graham’s critical photo essay examines how timing and tradition shape the meaning of the beloved Westcott Fountain at Florida State University. By documenting the fountain throughout the day from a consistent perspective, including quieter daytime hours and the nighttime birthday tradition, Graham reveals how the same space can shift in atmosphere and interpretation. The work reflects on photography’s ability to capture both the visible environment and the deeper social significance attached to it.
