As we gather to showcase the dedication and creativity of our students from the past year, we recognize that April 17, 2025 marked a tragic day on our campus. We remember the lives of the two individuals we lost and hold in our thoughts those who were injured and forever changed by these events.
As we gather to showcase the dedication and creativity of our students from the past year, we recognize that April 17, 2025 marked a tragic day on our campus. We remember the lives of the two individuals we lost and hold in our thoughts those who were injured and forever changed by these events.
One of the projects featured in this exhibit examines our university’s response to that day. We include this work not only as a testament to student research but as a space for honest reflection about our history and shared strength.

Jacquelyn Coleman created this video to reflect how the April 17th shooting at Florida State University changed the place, landscape, and community at the college. She analyzes how the place and the landscape at FSU have evolved and interacted differently in the aftermath of the shooting and examines how these changes affect the larger community.
Ali Schulz has been incredibly passionate about the issue of gun violence throughout her time in school, especially after her friend had to witness a school shooting at his school, just about 20 minutes down the road from hers. This ePortfolio explores the issue of gun violence through a personal yet policy-focused lens. Schulz hopes that, through the exploration of her ePortfolio, everyone finds themselves more engaged in, or knowledgeable about, the issue of gun violence.
