Wen-Yu Weng
Wen-Yu Weng is currently an educator, writer and consultant based in London, United Kingdom. She simultaneously holds the position as the national coach of Taiwan's National Debate Team, while also working as a trusted consultant in the energy and climate sector for some of the most recognizable organizations and companies in the world. As a student, Wen-Yu participated in competitive debating tournaments across four continents, and has achieved success in winning national championships across three countries - Taiwan, Thailand and the UK. Her passion for critical thinking, debate education and current affairs led her to co-found Taiwan Debate Union, the largest debate organization in Taiwan. Since then she has coached over 500 students in her personal capacity, including students from National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, and many other universities, as well as multiple of Taiwan's leading private and government high schools. She has previously featured as a guest lecturer in NCCU on many occasions to introduce students of the department to the art of debating. Under her tutelage, the Taiwan National Team went on to rank within the Top 8 nations in the World Schools Debating Championship out of 60+ competing nations.
Wen-Yu believes debating and critical thinking are fundamental skills for the modern world, and on a daily basis she leverages her debating and critical thinking acumen to strengthen her work as an advisor in the energy and climate space. Wen-Yu holds Master degrees from the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Judie Yang received her B.A. degree from the English department of NCCU in 2015 and graduated from the M.F.A. Cinema program of San Francisco State University in 2019. Her short film, Taiwanese Cha Cha Cha (2019), was selected and awarded by numerous film festivals worldwide, including the most prominent Asian-American film festivals like CAAM, and Asian American International Film Festival. During the same year, she received funding from ChiaYi County Government to complete her documentary short, The Granddaughter Detective (2019). It premiered in San Diego Asian Film Festival in 2020. Her latest documentary short, My EXID Ideas (2022) was selected by Visions du Réel Film Market in 2022. She is currently developing her first feature film, Welcome to JuJu Land, commenced from 2021 NAFF Bucheon Fantastic Film School BIFAN, and has thereafter been selected by 2022 Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab, and the screenwriting workshop held by Kaohsiung Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
畢業於政大英文系、舊金山州立大學電影所，楊渝惠編導的短片《台語恰恰恰》（2019）入圍舊金山亞美電影節、聖地牙哥亞洲電影節等數十個影展。同年獲得嘉義縣政府補助，完成紀錄短片《孫女偵探》（2019），入選2020聖地牙哥亞洲電影節。並以紀錄片《追星老大x我愛EXID》（2022）入選Visions du Réel市場展。現正全力開發長片《歡迎來到小菊島》，以此企劃入選2021年富川奇幻電影學院、2022冰島雷克雅維克國際電影節Talent Lab、以及2022-2023高雄市文化局主辦的南方編劇培育工作坊。

A polyglot is a person who knows and is able to use many languages. Every year in the “Introduction to Language Learning” class, students have the opportunity to understand what characteristics a polyglot has, how they learn many languages, and how one could create a unique career out of their identity as a polyglot. This year, once again Terri, the author of “This Taiwanese Guy Can Speak 25 Languages” is invited to talk about his new adventures living among tribes and communities in order to develop a deeper understanding of the language and the culture. His talk always brings us exciting and unexpected stories, yes, even during the pandemic. Having the opportunity to listen to Terri every year really gives students an enriched understanding of the life of a polyglot, including their challenges and opportunities. This talk will be in English.
