What are the differences between stories and scripts? Why do some good novel writers hit the wall soon after they turn to screenwriting? What are the tips to bear in mind when writing a short film script?

In this workshop, Judie will share the keys to successful short film writing. The workshop is structured to cover the following 5 aspects -

1. What makes a story?

2. Short films vs. feature films?

3. Where to get the inspiration?

4. Introduction to screenplay format and writing techniques

5. In-class activity - turning stories into scripts

We will look into some short films made by undergraduate students to learn what elements work and what less so. Students are expected to participate in in-class discussions and activities, and hopefully will walk away with more knowledge in screenwriting by the end of the class.

「故事」和「劇本」的差別是什麼？為什麼不少小說家成為不了好的編劇？寫短片劇本時又有哪些該注意的事項呢？

講者將利用這個工作坊，分享短片劇本的寫作技巧。本次的工作坊將包含以下五個小主題：

1. 故事的元素有哪些？

2. 短片及長片於創作時的差異？

3. 如何獲得靈感

4. 劇本格式及寫作重點介紹

5. 課堂活動：將「故事」改為「劇本」

我們會觀賞其他大學部學生製作的短片，分析影像中成功及不成功的元素。學生需要參與課堂討論及課堂活動，希望能於工作坊結束後，對劇本寫作有更多的理解與掌握。
