The Great Commission of Jesus' Disciples
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The most basic question confronts each of us...Why am I here?...What is the reason for my existence?...What is the purpose of my life?...What do you think the purpose of life is?...Is our lives just to be lived out on earth and then there is nothing?...Are we to talk and tell others about God and Jesus?...Is the reason we live to worship God and His Son?...
Pastor and author Alistair Begg wrote this about man and our purpose of being on earth and the reason for our existence, “Question 1: What is the chief end of man?...This most basic question confronts each of us...Why am I here?...What is the reason for my existence?...What is the purpose of my life?...The catechism on the basis of 1 Corinthians 10:31 and Psalm 73:25 provides the familiar answer...“Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.”...
The Disciples after Jesus' resurrection worshiped Him...And they still had their lives to live out after He would leave earth...Jesus said this in His Great Commission to the Eleven remaining Disciples about what they were to do in their lives after He left them on earth...The eleven disciples went to Galilee...They went to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go...On the mountain they saw Jesus and worshiped Him...But some of them did not believe that it was really Jesus...Then Jesus came to them and said, "All power in heaven and on earth is given to Me...So go and make followers of all people in the world...Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit...Teach them to obey everything that I have told you...You can be sure that I will be with you always...I will continue with you until the end of the world."...
