Membership in the National Honor Society is limited to juniors and seniors. This honor is conferred upon students in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, leadership, character and service. Induction and continued membership in the National Honor Society are based upon the criteria outlined in the bylaws.
SCHOLARSHIP: Students with a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.850 will be eligible for selection after completing five or six semesters of high school. Students will not be eligible if they have a final grade of "F" in any course during their freshman, sophomore, or junior year.
SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP: A student will be eligible for induction if he/she participated in at least two school activities, earned six points for participation in these activities, and completed fifteen hours of tutoring through the Verona High School Peer Tutoring Program. Service and leadership apply only to Verona High School activities.
CHARACTER: The student must have demonstrated positive signs of fine character. Thus, the student must never have been suspended. In addition, he/she must never have been disciplined for cheating, plagiarizing, stealing, cutting, vandalizing, forging a document, or using or possessing alcohol or drugs. Juniors and seniors are inducted in the spring.
The Verona High School National Honor Society provides one to one tutoring for students in all subject areas.
