Reporting Absences, Tardies, and Early Dismissals through Genesis
Dear VHS Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well and that you’re enjoying a smooth start to the school year.
Thank you for your continued support in following our attendance procedures. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe, organized, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Whenever your child is absent or late to school, it is essential that the school is notified. Regular attendance is vital to your child’s academic success, and timely communication allows us to provide proper support.
We ask that all absences and tardies be reported through the Genesis Parent Portal using the “Notify Office” feature under the Attendance tab.
Steps to Report an Absence or Tardy:
Log in to the Genesis Parent Portal. (Tip: Save the link to your phone’s home screen for easy access.)
Click on the “Attendance” tab.
Select “Notify Office.”
Choose Absent or Tardy, select the date(s), and include a reason.
You may attach a doctor’s note or other relevant documentation.
Click “Submit to Office.”
If your child will be absent for more than five consecutive days, please submit a second entry after the initial five-day period.
If your child needs to leave school early, please use the “Pick Up” tab in the Genesis Parent Portal to notify the school in advance.
Early Dismissal Procedure:
Upon your arrival, we will call your child to the main office and release them to your care.
All students—including seniors who drive themselves—must check out at the main office before leaving the building.
Students are only permitted to leave through the front entrance (Fairview Ave. side) during school hours.
Any student who leaves without checking in at the main office will receive a Code of Conduct consequence, as part of our commitment to school safety.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation with these procedures. Your partnership helps ensure the well-being and success of all students at Verona High School. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
VHS Administration
