Subject: Cell Phone & Earbud Expectations for the 2025–2026 School Year
Dear Verona High School Community,
I hope this message finds you well and that you’ve enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing summer. As we prepare for the new school year, I want to take a moment to review our cell phone and earbud expectations, which align with Verona Board of Education policy.

To help maintain a safe, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment, all students are expected to follow these guidelines during the school day:
General Expectations
● Cell phones must be turned off and stored either in the classroom cell phone caddy or in a locker during all instructional periods.
● Earbuds must be stored and are not permitted during class, unless a teacher specifically allows them for instructional purposes.
Use of Cell Phones & Earbuds is Not Permitted:
● During instructional time
● When leaving class for the restroom or any other location during instructional time
● If the phone or earbuds are not stored properly—even if not in use (e.g., visible in a pocket or hand)
Permitted Use:
Students may use phones and earbuds:
● Before and after school
● During lunch
● During study hall
● During hallway transitions between classes
(However, devices may not be used when leaving class during instruction—for example, to use the restroom.)
Important Reminder:
If a student leaves the classroom during instructional time for any reason, their phone and earbuds must remain in the classroom caddy.
They may not be carried on the student’s person, even in a pocket or bag.
Consequences:
If a phone or earbud is seen or heard when not permitted, a disciplinary consequence will be issued in line with the Code of Conduct. Repeated violations will result in progressive disciplinary action.
We appreciate your support and cooperation in reinforcing these expectations at home. Our shared goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
High School Administration
