We're excited to announce we're starting a new resource in a podcast-like format called FORMED!!
Formed: All about the wisdom with none of the pretense.
We are exploring Christian classical education together. Most of us, parents and educators alike, weren't classically educated ourselves. So we are going to learn together, ask genuine questions, and truly explore the wisdom of a Christian classical education while considering what it means through a biblical worldview.
Listen in as our Head of School, Wes Kanawyer, discusses topics pertinent to Christian, Classical Education and the Valor Family. You can catch the first episode here!

We are still refining our car line processes to prevent back up on public roads and get everyone in and out in a timely mannter. We could use your help with the following:
Please pull close to the car in front of you! Pulling up to leave about 3 feet between your car and the car in front allows our students the access they need and helps us fit more cars in the parking lots!!! Please try to pull up close when you stop in the carline!!
Please stay in your vehicle! We are working to help the students learn to get in and out of the cars on their own as that helps us move through the line more efficiently.. If you could please help us teach the students to be ready to get in out quickly, that would be super helpful!!!!
Sanger Campus Families: Please make note that the earlier drop off entrance is only for families with a sibling in Upper School!! We'll happily accept/release GS only students after we get through with the ones who need to head on to Bosque Square. Thank you!!

Juniors who sign out for lunch on Thursdays and have a Study Hall immediately following lunch may remain signed out until their next scheduled class or school event after lunch. Parents who would like their Junior to have this extended sign-out privilege must specifically approve it by notifying Ms. Worthington in the front office. Please note that students who plan to miss or arrive late to Study Hall are expected to notify their Study Hall teacher or monitor in advance. We appreciate everyone’s help in following these procedures so that this privilege can continue to be offered. The extended sign-out privilege may be revoked by a parent or the administration if procedures are not followed or if a student does not return to their next scheduled class or event on time.
Valor junior, Kinley Byrd, and Mrs. Tammy Marton, our athletic trainer, are pleased to announce that they are starting a HOSA club for Rhetoric School students. HOSA, now called Future Health Professionals (but formerly Health Occupations Students of America) is an international organization for students in both secondary and higher education who want to prepare for careers in health. There will be a quick interest meeting next Wednesday, 9/9, from 3:40-4pm right after athletics for students to learn more about HOSA and how they can get involved! Your student can contact Kinley with questions at kbyrd28@valorprep.com.
College Admissions Counselors will visit Valor this fall semester to tell your student about the opportunities and distinctives of their institution. On Monday, 14 September, Valor will welcome our first college to campus: Baylor University.
Dr. Escobar will hold the first College Readiness Learning Lunch this fall semester from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm in Room 139 on Thursday, 10 September. During this 40-minute meeting, she will introduce students to the academic resume, or curriculum vitae, and teach them how to write one. A follow-up Learning Lunch will give students a chance to edit and work on their CVs with Dr. Escobar’s help. Throughout the school year, Mr. Miller and Dr. Escobar will host these special meetings to help our Rhetoric School students navigate the college search and college admissions process with confidence.
Senior Sunrise will happen on September 15th from 6:45-8:15am on the turf at Bosque Square. This is a time to honor and celebrate seniors and is open to Moms, Dads, and their Senior students. Click HERE for the invitation link and please RSVP for both parents. We are taking a parent/senior photo, so come dressed accordingly.
The HOT College Fair will take place on Monday, 21 September from 6 to 8pm at the Hurd Welcome Center on the Baylor campus at 901 South University Parks Drive. As many as one hundred colleges will send representatives to meet students at this event, located conveniently right here in Waco.

We are happy to provide a certificate of completion for anyone who needs documentation for their service hours.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Please see the graphic below on Early Bird Testing and when that is taking place.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Student VAPs were sent out via email to parents last week for your signature. If your child has a VAP and you did not receive an email, please reach out to Misty Nissen at misty.nissen@valorprep.com. If you did receive an email, please sign the VAP at your earliest convenience.
Early Bird testing continues next week for students who have eligible tests and a time and a half accommodation on their VAP. Doors will open at 7:28 a.m. and close directly at 7:32 a.m.
EBT & Sports: If your student will miss the class period in which they are taking their test due to a sports absence, they may not come to EBT that morning. Instead, students are able to reach out to their teacher, schedule a time for a retake, and then may attend EBT on the morning of the retake.
Multiple Tests in a Day: Students with time and a half accommodations who have multiple tests on the same day are encouraged to use EBT to focus on the test they think will take the longest. This is a great time to connect with your student to walk them through the decision-making process as they determine which test to take. They will then finish that test in class. The other test will begin in class, but if the student doesn’t finish they may use their study hall that same day to finish the test. If they do not have a study hall, they may go to the after school study hall that same day, to finish the tests. All tests need to be finished the same day they are started. After school study hall runs from 3:45-5:00 p.m. and is housed in the library.
Please welcome our OT doctoral student, Alli Chambers. We are excited to have Ms. Chambers join our team for the fall semester. Please see a note from her below and reach out with any questions.
Dear Valor Parents, My name is Alli Chambers and I am a Doctoral Occupational Therapy Student at Baylor University. I am so excited to be at Valor for my capstone project, and I cannot wait to meet your students and their teachers! My focus will be educating teachers on inclusion strategies for students with ADHD and other unique learning needs who may need a little extra help in the classroom. I will also be setting up and facilitating the Motor Lab space on campus at the Grammar School. This will be a space where I can work one-on-one or in group settings with students who need structured movement breaks to better participate in classroom activities. I will provide consultation to the teachers when needed to make learning successful and lead classroom movement breaks. As teachers identify students who may benefit from individual consultation to enhance learning, a consent form will be sent out by Mrs. Nissen for permission to participate . Thank you so much in advance and I look forward to meeting and working with your students!
