Add/Drop in the RS: Your student may make changes to his or her schedule through the conclusion of the school day this Friday, 28 August. If your student needs to make a final schedule change, he or she can meet with Dr. Escobar on Friday to discuss this request. You have ready access to your student’s fall class schedule in RenWeb – as it might have changed since the Rhetoric School Launch.
College Admissions Counselors will visit Valor this fall semester to tell your student about the opportunities and distinctives of their institution. These college representatives will host information meetings during the RS lunch period throughout the school week. We will announce these meetings, which will begin in September, to students and also to you so that you can encourage your student to attend!
Dr. Escobar will hold the first College Readiness Learning Lunch this fall semester from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm in Room 139 on Thursday, 10 September. During this 40-minute meeting, she will introduce students to the academic resume, or curriculum vitae, and teach them how to write one. A follow-up Learning Lunch will give students a chance to edit and work on their CVs with Dr. Escobar’s help. Throughout the school year, Mr. Miller and Dr. Escobar will host these special meetings to help our Rhetoric School students navigate the college search and college admissions process with confidence.
The HOT College Fair will take place on Monday, 21st September from 6 to 8pm at the Hurd Welcome Center on the Baylor campus at 901 South University Parks Drive. As many as one hundred colleges will send representatives to meet students at this event, located conveniently right here in Waco.
