Major handbook changes for the 2026-2027 school year:*
The handbook has moved to an interactive website.
Car line will end at 7:55 AM beginning in August 2026.
Additional adjustments and clarifications to the car line section were made.
As of the 2026-2027 school year, no adults will be permitted into the school building to drop their kindergarten students off at the door on the first day of school. All students 4K-12th grade must be dropped off in the car line, or walked to the sidewalk stop as outlined in the Arrival & Dismissal section of this handbook.
A VirtualSC section has been added.
A section on the importance of attendance has been added.
Expanded section regarding how parents can discuss concerns.
Tardy consequences have been updated.
The technology policy has been updated, including clarification that students may not use tablets or devices for non-academic messaging.
The homework policy has been updated.
A car insurance requirement for chaperones driving for a field trip has been added.
Grades of E, or Excused, and M, or Missing, have been clarified, and a specific late work policy has been added.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade have transitioned to skills-based report cards.
Promotion, Placement, and Retention Guidelines have been updated.
Graduation Requirements have been updated.
The Code of Conduct introduction has been updated.
Dress code policies have been clarified and/or updated regarding accessories, tank tops on dress down days, student athlete game day jerseys, colored contact lenses, tears and holes in jeans, and tops worn underneath Valorous Academy outerwear.
The dismissal section now clarifies that if a student is participating in an extracurricular activity that does not begin immediately after school, the parent is responsible for arranging care and/or transportation for their child.
A field trip refund policy was added.
Various minor wording changes, school updates (such as new memberships), typo corrections, and formatting updates have been made throughout the handbook.
