Water Bottles
All students are allowed and encouraged to bring a water bottle to school with them every day. Water bottles may be filled as needed throughout the day. Classroom teachers set the standard in their classroom regarding beverages other than water.
Lunch
In addition to permitting lunch brought from home, Valorous Academy offers several options to students for school lunch:
Packed Lunch
Microwaves are available on a limited basis to K-12th students. Students should be respectful of others and not bring items which take several minutes to heat up.
Students who bring microwaveable lunches are expected to use the microwave safely, responsibly, and cleanly. Students must be able to follow heating instructions, use microwave-safe containers, clean up spills, and avoid placing unsafe items in the microwave.
Students may not microwave metal, foil, plastic bags, unopened containers, or any item that could create smoke, fire, damage, or a safety concern. If a student is unable to use the microwave safely or appropriately, the privilege may be limited or removed.
Families may be responsible for repair or replacement costs if a student damages a microwave or other school property.
Students who are not yet able to use a microwave independently should bring lunches that do not require heating.
Refrigerators and freezers are not available for student use.
Hot Lunch
Students have the option of ordering a hot lunch to be delivered to the school.
Lunches are ordered through My Hot Lunchbox, a third-party vendor. Parents are responsible for the ordering, payment, and cancellation of lunches.
Snack Shack
Items from vending machines and freezers are available for student purchase before school, breaks, during lunch, and after school.Â
Food Delivery Services
For the safety, security, and orderly operation of the school day, students are not permitted to order or receive food or beverages from third-party food delivery services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or similar companies during the school day.
Parents and guardians may personally drop off food for their student at the front office in accordance with school procedures. However, food deliveries made by commercial delivery services will not be accepted and may be turned away.
Students who attempt to order food through delivery services may be subject to disciplinary action, and the school is not responsible for coordinating, receiving, or storing outside food deliveries.
This policy helps maintain campus security, minimize disruptions to instruction, and ensure consistent supervision of students during the school day.
Snacks
Classroom teachers set the standard in their classroom regarding food. Parents should contact the classroom teacher to inquire about snacks in the classroom.
Gum
Gum is not permitted on the school campus.
