STEAM Quarter Projects
Each school quarter students working in teams of three or four members will complete one major project.
- Quarter 1 - Students will write a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type story and publish the story as a website.
- Students will learn the basics of HTML and CSS web page development and design languages.
- Students may learn the basics of JavaScript web page programming language.
- Students will present their stories to elementary students as a nearby school.
- Students will develop a portfolio project to later show high school teachers and future employers in related fields.
- Quarter 2 - Student teams will propose and develop their own project incorporating as many aspects of STEAM as possible.
- Student teams will make a formal proposal for each project to be approved by Mr. Clarkson before the team proceeds with the project.
- Students will do preliminary research before proposing a project, and continue to research in order to develop a project, using a standardized research note-taking and reporting format for communication and collaboration with their team.
- Students will present their finished projects publicly either to their student peers outside of the classroom, to another school group, or to invited parents and other adults.
- Students will develop a second portfolio project for future use.

Computer Applications and Hardware
Weekly STEAM sessions focus on computer operations.
- The standards of application operation and development.
- Implementation of specific applications.
- Basic computer science.
- Basic computer software maintenance.
- Basic computer hardware maintenance including rebuilding a computer, replacing computer components, and initial installation of a computer operating system.
