This is the page where I vainly write about me. I am a second career teacher, a husband, a father, and many other details below.
My wife, Kerri, teaches reading and math intervention at Greenhurst Elementary School in the Nampa School District. We have been married since the late Summer of 1985. We have two daughters and two sons-by-marriage to our two daughters.
I have taught one year at Nampa High School, one year at Cambridge Middle / High School and started at Sage Valley Middle School in the fall of 2017. I came to teaching through the ABCTE alternative certification program after substitute teaching for seven years. I am certified for Mathematics 6/12. At Nampa High School I taught Geometry and Senior Math for Daily Life. At Cambridge I taught 6th grade Math, 8th grade Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Advanced Mathematics.
I have been a pastor of churches in Idaho, Kansas, and Texas. I taught pastoral studies in a Bible institute in La Paz Bolivia for six years. In Texas I was development director for an online international institute for pastoral studies. Many years ago I was a framing, siding, and finish work contractor and residential construction foreman. At times in the distant past I have also been a cafe cook, a morticians assistant, and a travel agent.
I was born in Council and raised in Meadows and Hayden Lake. Thus, I graduated from Coeur D' Alene High School (1978). I graduated college from Northwest Nazarene College (1984) several years before that institution transitioned to a university. A few years after marriage we moved to Oregon to complete a Masters program at Western Evangelical Seminary (g. 1995). Shortly after graduating we move to San Jose, Costa Rica for a year of intensive language learning. One year later we again moved to La Paz, Bolivia to teach pastoral studies. We returned to the USA in 2002 and settled in Kansas as a pastor / teacher for six years. Then we moved to Texas for a limited three year term to develop online studies for Instituto ALMA. We returned to Nampa in 2008 to again live near to our aging parents and have lived and taught in this area since then.
I still enjoy an occasional carpentry or woodworking project but also I have practiced many other hobbies. I have a moderate collection of crystals and minerals and have studied some aspects of mineralogy, crystallography, and geology. I began to learn computer maintenance, repair, and programming in South America and practiced computer repair as a side business and programing as developer of online studies for Instituto ALMA. As a natural born Idahoan and together with my wife we enjoy camping, stream fishing, hiking, mushrooming, and picking huckleberries.
