Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How are OUR Project Award funds distributed?

Once you have received a Project Award, you will work with your faculty mentor and the Office Administrator (OA) from your mentor's department to purchase items. The funds will not be distributed directly to the student.

What if my research expenses are over the total award amount?

If your research project supplies and expenses cost more than the awarded amount, OUR is not responsible for securing additional funding.  You should talk to your faculty mentor about other sources of funding or you can set up an appointment with OUR to learn about other sources of funding.

What is required of me after my project is completed?

All awardees must submit and present their work in the UWF Student Scholars Symposium (typically the third Thursday in April). Awardees can find guidelines and information regarding this presentation on OUR’s website.

All funds must be utilized by the end of the spring semester of the current academic year.

All awardees must submit a Final Project Report to the Office of Undergraduate Research before the end of the spring semester that includes a photo of yourself conducting or engaging in research. To access this report, please log onto myUWF and search for OUR Program Applications. Select your OUR Project Award application and it will appear as a new section of that application.

Grant awardees are also required to act as ambassadors to the OUR program and speak to at least one approved campus event (e.g., classrooms and tour guides) about your research experience at UWF.

I submitted a Group Project Award application. Does everyone in my group need to complete the Final Project Report?

Yes, just as your initial application required all students within the group to complete an application, ALL students need to complete the Final Project Report. The report will ask you personal questions about the research experience; therefore, we want to hear about each group member's unique experience.

Please make sure you and group members are submitting the same poster presentation that was used at the UWF Student Scholars Symposium.
