Documenting Your Research Experience

Don't forget to get a photo of yourself or your group working on your project. This will be required for your Final Project Report and is just a wonderful record of your experience.

Consider also sharing your photo via social media. OUR loves to be thanked for Project Award funding on social media - its a great way for other UWF students to see what is possible! Don't forget to share details on what your project is and how the experience impacted you. Please tag OUR so we see it (@uwf_our).

Closing the Loop: Don't Forget Your Resume

Its a good idea to add your research and project conference to your resume or CV as soon as you complete it so you don't forget all the details! You could add your research as "Relevant Experience" or "Research Experience" among other sections.

Here's an example of how you can list your research experience:

Research project, English Department, University of West Florida, December 2020-April 2021

Faculty Mentor: Dr. Jane Smith

Then list your project details and what your role in the project was as bullet points!

Research experience can also help students build skills that future employers will be interested to know about! Think about what skills you developed during your preparation for and engagement within the project-- if you need ideas, check out the list of Transferable Skills on page 14 of the UWF Career Development Guide.
