Apply for a Travel Award

Once you have completed your research project, you may be ready to present your results or experience at a conference. You can apply for OUR Travel Awards with the OUR Program Application Portal Via the myUWF website.

Travel Funding 

UWF undergraduate students can apply to OUR for up to $1000 to travel costs for a student to present his/her research at a conference through the OUR Travel Award program. 

Not sure what conference to attend? Talk to your faculty mentor! Students can have a wonderful first conference experience by traveling with their faculty mentor. You can also check out OUR's conference database. But please keep in mind that many conferences require you to submit your abstract 4-6 months in advance, so you'll want to start thinking about potential conferences early.  

Deadlines 

Applications for OUR Travel Awards can be submitted throughout the fall and spring semesters of each academic year. Applications for summer travel should be submitted before the end of the spring semester. Applications must be submitted at least 45 days before travel. 

Please note that Travel Awards are made on a rolling basis and so it is possible that funds will run out before the end of the academic year and the application will close early. 

Notification of Awards

The Office of Undergraduate Research will review student applications twice per month (1st and 16th of each month). Applications must be complete by the start of business on the 1st, or they will not be reviewed until the 16th of the month. Applicants will receive a notification letter regardless of acceptance or denial. Award and denial letters will be sent via email on the 8th and 23rd of each month.
