Economic and Social Council

Topic: Strategies for eradicating poverty to achieve sustainable economic and social development in Palestine.

About the committee

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) eagerly anticipates the opportunity to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from an economic standpoint in the upcoming conference. Following this past summer’s continuation of the ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestinians living in East Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank, we now recognize the crucial nature of investigating the United Nations and participating states’ role to rebuild Palestine economically in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8). We are united under the belief that sustained and inclusive economic growth can drive progress, create decent jobs for all and improve living standards. Together, we will work to promote this inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all those involved in and impacted by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In this committee we will be accepting delegates representing Israel, Palestine, select surrounding countries, and major world powers that have influence in the conflict. It is the job of the ECOSOC committee to identify possible action solutions and implement them as soon as possible in order to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable social and economic development in Palestine.
