Within a social justice paradigm, the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences is an engaged and connected research and learning environment that seeks to transform and sustain the health and well-being of communities through leadership in innovative and collaborative interprofessional (IP) approaches locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Physiotherapists help people move and feel better after an injury, illness, surgery, or any physical pain, such as back pain or joint stiffness.
They focus on improving physical movement and strength, relieving pain, and helping individuals get back to normal activities using exercises, massage, and equipment.
Occupational therapists help people and children do daily activities (like dressing, cooking, or writing) when health problems make it difficult for them.
They focus on helping their clients regain independence using adaptive techniques or tools and working on fine motor skills and cognitive functions.
Social workers support people going through emotional, family, or social problems, like stress, abuse, poverty, or illness.
They help people find resources, counseling, and support so they can cope and improve their situation.
Dieticians give professional advice about food and nutrition to improve their patients health or manage conditions like diabetes, obesity, or heart disease.
They create personalized meal plans and teach healthy eating based on someone’s needs, lifestyle, and health issues.
Practitioners of Chinese medicine use ancient methods like herbs, acupuncture, and special diets to balance the body and improve health.
