Social services focus on supporting individuals, families, and communities to overcome challenges, improve wellbeing, and access essential resources. Whether you're navigating a crisis, managing stressors, or seeking guidance through life changes, social workers are trained to help.
At our centre, services are provided by student social workers or human services practitioners under professional supervision. We offer a safe, inclusive space to be heard, supported, and empowered.
Our student-led social services team may assist with:
Mental health support and well-being planning
Family and relationship difficulties
Housing instability or homelessness
Financial stress or access to community resources
Grief, trauma, or life transitions
Domestic or family violence support (with referral pathways)
Navigating healthcare, education, or legal systems
Advocacy for vulnerable or marginalized individuals
Please note: While students offer compassionate and informed support, crisis or emergency services will be referred to appropriate agencies.
We take a strengths-based and collaborative approach to each person’s needs. Support may include:
One-on-one support sessions
Resource and referral navigation (e.g. housing, food, financial aid)
Psychoeducation around coping and stress
Goal-setting and wellbeing planning
Safety planning and advocacy
Support letters or documentation (with supervisor review)
Group workshops or peer-led programs (may vary by term)
Services evolve each semester depending on student placement focus and supervision areas.
All services are provided by social work or human services students under the guidance of registered professionals. Supervisors oversee assessments, care planning, and documentation to ensure all services are safe, ethical, and aligned with best practices.
We are committed to trauma-informed and culturally safe care in everything we do.
