Governor mandated, a week in which High Schools set apart time for their students to apply to colleges and get help from us and their counselors while doing so. Our part in this is working with our assigned schools to assist their students with applying to UVU or to all universities.
Not every school does UCAW the same way, whenever someone Invites you to a UCAW ask them for specifics to ensure that you are prepared and make good use of your time.
Example of a UCAW:
1- A counselor will either reach out to you, or you will have to, asking about what dates they are running their UCAW, whether they will have general applications or specifically just for UVU.
2- There will usually be one or two class periods that you will be in the media center or computer lab helping students apply to UVU and other colleges. Usually other Admissions Counselors from the other Universities will be there, as well as the High School counselors.
3- During this time, there is a very high probability that you will spend a lot of time resetting passwords for students, so make sure you know how to do that. Which means you better have your laptop.
4- There is a high possibility you will go from this school to one more that day. Repeat the process.
As Admission Counselors, we will want to go to as many as we can, but when they cram all the schools within a very short period it is very difficult. Some quick facts:
Concurrent Enrollment students are auto-admitted to UVU and just need to begin the What's Next steps.
If they don’t have a driver’s license the counselors have their State ID which works as well.
