Transfer Visits are designed to inform and recruit students from two-year colleges to our four-year institution. Each school’s transfer day will look a little bit different. Snow’s are less frequent and are more of a recruitment tabling event while SLCC’s are more frequent and are more specified towards helping students understand how their credits will transfer.
Snow College
Transfer Visits: These visits are like a big and long lunch visit. They happen in January and October and run for about 3 to 4 hours. After the visit is over, Snow generously gives us any food we want from their food court (the food is so good so help yourself). We have been working to build a good relationship with Snow, so it is important to be prompt in responding to emails, and making sure to always have coverage at these events!!
Open Houses: Snow is open to hosting us for an Open house, but they are something that we have not done for a while, and should be explored.
These are the steps in doing a Transfer Visit:
Step 1 – Schedule with main contact
Step 2 - Gather transfer visit brochures & tabling equipment
Step 3 – Schedule rental car
Step 4 - Do the visit 😊
Step 5 – Eat their delicious Food
Step 6- Follow up email to counselor
Step 1. Kelly Schoppe is your main contact at Snow (kelly.schoppe@snow.edu), and will be the one to plan the college transfer visits and reach out to you with the details.
SAMPLE EMAIL FROM KELLY:
I would like to remind you of our 4-year transfer day for this coming Spring semester.
It will be held Wednesday Jan 30th, 2019 11 am – 3 pm. Please Confirm at your earliest convenience if you will have a representative from your school here on that day.
Some Reminders for this event:
** Lunch, Drinks and Snacks are ON US.
** You may bring 3 people per school
**No one should offer free admissions or scholarships on that date—Please do that when you come for your individual OPEN HOUSE.
Step 2. Particularly for Snow, you will need to bring tabling supplies (i.e. table cloth, campus pictures, pens, viewbooks, lanyards, pull-up banner, and any other SWAG).
Step 3. Schedule rental car if available.
Step 4. It is very common to have lots of students come and visit our UVU table.
Pro tips:
· Try to have at least two people to help eliminate line buildup
· Bring water, gum/mints to help save your voice and give you good breath
· Have adequate supplies for the students coming through
· Have a good knowledge of transfer scholarships, residency, and transfer credits
· Understand the basics of the variety of UVU programs
Step 5. Snow is always very generous to feed the representatives after the end of the fair. Take advantage of this because the food is absolutely delicious.
Step 6. Follow up your visit with a thank you email and check on the next scheduled visit.
SLCC
Transfer Visits: This is a very simple and casual event that takes place twice a month and are two hours. All you need to do is bring a table cloth, degree listing sheet, and your computer. If students want to come by, you will sit with them and help walk them through what current class credits would transfer over to UVU credits.
UVU Open Houses: All admission counselors are involved and will go up to SLCC to recruit students and help inform them about our four-year degrees. These open houses take place once a semester and are a four-hour event.
*****Disclaimer: SLCC just got a new director, and they are changing transfer visits and open houses to be more of department visits instead of recruitment visits. So things are going to be changing.
