A: What are some recommendations that you give people when they travel to Costa Rica?
B: Well, people in Costa Rica are very relaxed and nice. When travelling to Costa Rica, you should learn some basic phrases in Spanish like how to ask for help, ask for directions, how to order at a restaurant. You can shake hands with people and don’t get afraid if someone tries to kiss you on the cheek or hug you.
A: What about the airport?
B: There are well-trained staff that will help you in case you have any questions or of you want any recommendations of transportation or tours.

drive an obvious rental car
park anywhere but a well lit place, don't leave valuables in the car
keep your vehicle and house or hotel keys on the same place.
never leave your luggage unattended, even for a brief moment.

be aware of your surroundings, and watch for suspicious people or vehicles.

make a note of your passport number; if it becomes lost or stolen.
make a note of your credit-card numbers and the phone number to call in case you need to report it stolen and cancel it.

be alert for staged distractions, such as someone bumping into you or spilling a drink on you.
