Dell Med HSSC Camp Director, Liliana Martinez.
GEAR UP students are exposed to health profession opportunities through hands-on science experiments and interaction with health professionals. Students learn basic clinical skills like administering IVs, performing intubations, and taking vital signs in medical simulation labs. They also explore laboratory science, discover medical technology, and earn First Aid or CPR/AED certification.
GEAR UP students in participating grants are nominated by their Coordinators on campus to register for the Dell Med Health Sciences Summer Camp. Coordinators observe behavior, grades, and recommendations from teachers in math and science related classes. The student and their guardian will be notified in person and via phone call/email if they are eligible for this opportunity.
