Conceptual clarity is when your main idea and the intentions behind it makes its way clearly into the architectural form. Through the process of abstraction, the architect is able to manipulate the essence of an idea and create an architectural composition. It’s very much like a game of Pictionary but the objective of conceptual clarity is that the architecture becomes an embodiment of the concept and its intentions whether it be in a literal or a metaphorical way. My task is to create a form composition based on ONE of the following words below. Use objects you can find around your home
a. Linear b. Inside c. Levels d. Narrow e. Radial f. Disruption g. Inconsistent h. Variety
i. Overlapping j. Balanced
After the Second World War, there was a need to reimagine a new Japan. As a collaborative effort to recover from war devastation, Kisho Kurokawa, Kiyonori Kikutake and Fumihiko Maki founded an architecture movement called "Metabolism." The said movement was a way of envisioning post-war Japan's overall developmental transformation through a fusion of theories and processes leading to a certain biological organic growth amongst megastructures. The idea first surfaced in 1960 at the World Design Conference. They argued that architecture should be dynamic and similar to a cell that can undergo a metabolic shift. Their architecture seeks to mirror the same processes found in different sorts of life: cycles of change, the constant renewal, and destruction of organic tissues. Metabolism wanted to be sustainable in the sense that the architecture could live for a very long time, as parts can be placed and replaced over the building's lifetime.
My task is to analyze the parts of a vernacular tree house and improve it for everyday use. Imagine the scale of a single multi-use room as a resort villa. What would be inside the room? How big is it supposed to be? Now that you can design and create everything, I am free to explore the different Elements of Architecture in multiple forms.
