One of the most important inspirations for the logo was the cherry blossom - "Sakura" - a reference to the founder of the laboratory and his relationship with Japanese culture. The mirroring and overlapping of the lines that constitute the symbol portray the stylized silhouette of the flower, evoking the deep reflections and meanings associated with it.
From a compositional point of view, the elements sought were those that could represent the characteristics of an open system and the ideas of fluidity, movement and diversity. Specifically, the openings in the symbol represent LACOM's characteristic of not being closed in on itself, of its ability to exchange information and energy. In turn, the succession of straight lines and curves that follow the same line evokes fluidity and movement, in addition to the diversity of thought that exists there.
The circle in the center of the symbol represents the prevailing essence. The importance of a consistent education, the capacity for reflection, the mastery of concepts, and human relations.
The predominant color is orange, which is present throughout the drawing and especially in the central circle, as, being a warm and expansive color, it evokes the energy that keeps the flow of actions active.
In turn, for the sake of perception stability and cohesiveness, the typography for the word LACOM is black and striking, contrasting with the lightness of the symbol.
