DESCRIPTION: Students will begin the Portrait a Day Challenge. Portraits must be done from direct observation using a mirror or active video screen. No photos allowed. Once set-up and ready to work, students will set a timer for 30 minutes. The portrait must be "complete" within the 30 minute time limit. Each portrait must be a minimum of 8.5 x 11, but larger sizes are encouraged. Students should work at capturing as much detail as possible, background, lighting, value, texture, personality, and different views.
Day 1: Non-dominant hand, Day 2: Contour, Day 3: Contour with line weight changes for depth, Day 4: Blind Contour, Day 5: Continuous line contour with one expressive hand, Day 6: Tonal, Day 7: Tonal with dramatic lighting Day 8: Auto portrait view, Day 9: Personal Choice
