Essential Questions
How do artists use color schemes to effect the viewer's perception?
How does view point effect emotion?
How do symbols communicate concepts?
How do shapes and angles alter our feelings
DESCRIPTION: During the course of the semester students will explore art as language and how to communicate concepts and ideas through visual tools. For this project, students must use only the objects located in or around a meal plus color, composition, view point, texture, symbolism, shapes and forms to communicate an event that is about to happen or an event that just happened. The importance of layered space, recognition of objects, emotional color, and composition are stressed.
From the resource page, review the Color Cylinder and watch or participate in the discussion(s) on color theory. Pick one of the 7 basic color schemes: monochromatic, complimentary, split-complimentary, triad, tetrad, neutral, or analogous. Once you choose, create a set of swatches demonstrating your scheme and upload it to your "References" folder for this project. You must create your final using this color scheme effectively.
Students should work from direct observation and must submit sketches prior to beginning work.
You will provide a photo of your set-up in your "References" folder for this project.
Paint or Draw your set-up using your color scheme. Be as accurate as possible capturing light, shadow, texture, form, and proportions.
Your final project, WIPs, References must be uploaded to your google shared drive for this project to receive credit.
