CTE provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in college, technical school, and their future careers.

New Scholarships for Class of 2021

If you are interested in attending a Kansas community or technical college in the fall of 2021 there are new scholarships (based on financial need) available through the Kansas Promise Scholarship Act.

Select career and technical education programs will be available at no cost to eligible students beginning in the fall of 2021. Read more on the Scholarships page.

Earn College Credit This Summer

Did you know high school students are eligible for tuition-free college credit in approved technical courses offered by Kansas technical and community colleges? Excel in CTE (formerly Senate Bill 155) covers the cost of tuition for classes that will lead to high wage, high demand careers in Kansas.

WRHS Partners with SENT Topeka

Students in the Residential Carpentry classes are building a house that will be moved from WRHS to the Hi-Crest neighborhood in Topeka. Tim Vincent, SENT Construction Manager, says, "The partnership is a great one because of what it does for the Hi-Crest community and because it helps build the pipeline of skilled laborers

Professional Development Training for Teens

The Topeka Way to Work (TWTW) Employment Program will offer five professional development sessions for Shawnee County residents who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors during the 2021-2022 school year. Each participant will receive a $50 gift card and leave with the tools they need to help them put everything they learn to good use. We will also be providing snacks and beverages from local establishments in Topeka. Click here to for more information and to apply!

Washburn Tech Summer Camp

Camp Dates: Monday, June 14th—Thursday, June 18th

Time: 9am—4pm Monday thru Thursday.

Morning and afternoon snack provided.

Students MUST bring a sack lunch with an adequate way to keep items cold (if needed).

Cost: $75
