Professional Learning Experience Information

As per the enrollment handbook:

Professional Learning Experience (PLE)

22998S1/22998S2;

Prerequisite(s):  PLE paperwork due by May 1; 11 & 12—Elective credit option—1 credit; PASS/FAIL

JUNIORS are permitted to enroll in one period of Professional Learning Experience. SENIORS are permitted to enroll in two periods of Professional Learning Experience.

The Professional Learning Experience (PLE) course connects technical skill development at the application level to authentic industry-related experiences for the individual student learner across all fields and pathways. The PLE course is designed for students who want to gain experience working in a job that is directly tied to a class in which the student is enrolled. The academic and occupational skills that the student will be learning need to be at the same skill level as the course in which the student is enrolled. To secure the PLE course request, a completed application must be submitted to the school counselor on or before May 1. A relationship among Career Interest + Course on Schedule + Professional Learning Experience placement must be evident. Students may enroll in PLE for 1 class period or 2 class periods (seniors only), with .5 credit awarded per class period each semester upon successful completion of the Professional Learning Experience requirements. The class is PASS/FAIL.
