What is a study guide?
outline from your notes and textbook
A study guide is not meant to have everything in your notes, but should be a structured outline
condensed and organized
Try to make the outline as brief as possible ~ 1 page or less (though this may be a bit longer if you like a lot of pictures)
Summarize and get the key point down
Sometimes class notes follow student questions and can go back to earlier material or just around a bit. Get connected points together.
What should it include?
key terms
this is particularly true of vocabulary from the unit that you know you need to review.
key concepts
What are the big unifying ideas that tie the topic together?
key questions
What are the questions on the test likely to look like?
What are the questions from homework?
What has the teacher emphasized most during class?
What is in the learning objectives for the unit?
key diagrams or pictures to help illustrate concepts
