High School & Beyond Plan (XELLO)
HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND OVERVIEW
All students attending UPSD, in grades 7 through 12, are required to participate in the High School & Beyond Program (HSBP), including students attending the Running Start program. The HSBP is designed to help students develop their high school path as well as college and career readiness goals while meeting Washington State graduation requirements.
The High School & Beyond Program is beneficial to students because it helps them to plan for their future, develop their leadership skills, support their community, and create opportunities to be more competitive in the college selection process, as well as, the job market.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND PLAN?
Students create a portfolio in a web-based program, Xello, to complete their HSBP requirements. The requirements are:
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS: Students (grades 7-12) will complete tasks in Xello, a web-based planning portfolio, to assist in exploring and creating college and career readiness goals.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE: Students (grades 9-12) will complete volunteer service hours and record their hours in Xello. Minimum volunteer service hour requirements each school year. Click here on how to log hours.
HSBP is both a CHS and Washington State graduation requirement

HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND PLAN - GRADE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students start their plain in 7th grade and then continue to revise them throughout each year to include changing interests, educational and career goals. The HSBP is intended to help students through a process of exploration, discovery, connection, and identification of interests, goals, strengths, choices, resources, documentation and future plans.
Students can access Xello by logging into their UPSD Google Account/Gmail and clicking the Xello App in the google waffle

Xello for families
It’s important for students to take ownership in planning for their future. But the caring adults in their life play an essential supporting role. Use your Xello Family account to see your child’s work in future-readiness. Xello Family lets you explore and discover your child’s future goals and plans so you can better support their learning and development.
Parents or Guardians:
Access Your Account: You will receive a Welcome to Xello! activation email to the address we have on file. Once you click Activate Account through the email, you will be redirected to Xello and asked to create a password.
Haven't received an email? Contact the CCRC and we will resend an invite
Explore Xello Family: On the welcome screen, you will see all children linked to your account. Clicking a child’s name will bring you to their profile.
Discover Your Child’s Interests and Goals: In your child’s profile, you will be able to see all the work they’ve done in Xello. If there’s no information in a certain section, your child has not yet started or completed the activity. You can explore each section to learn new information about your child.
Access Your Student Demo Account: Try Xello for yourself to get a better understanding of the platform to support your child. On the welcome screen, select your child’s grade/school under Your Demo Account. Lessons and assignments are catered by grade and school so if you have multiple children, each demo account might look a little different. Once you’re in the demo account, you will be able to take assessments, try a lesson, explore careers, and much more.
Discuss Your Child’s Future Goals and Plan: Xello is a great tool to use to start future planning conversations with your child. Try asking them why they liked a certain career. Were they surprised about their top career suggestions? What different pathways can they take to achieve their goals?
We are here to help. For more information on Xello, visit their website or contact the CCRC on any questions or concerns.
