Aprender y Enseñar

En este Seminario se busca que los estudiantes dirijan su atención a las actividades mismas de aprender y enseñar. Se invita a que consideren crítica e imaginativamente los contenidos de su disciplina, las interconexiones entre unas y otras, la diversidad en el aprendizaje humano, el uso de la tecnología y el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico. En particular, la reflexión gira en torno a los siguientes asuntos:

*Disciplinas e interdisciplinariedad: Los estudiantes piensan sobre su disciplina, sus preguntas medulares, los métodos y las interconexiones entre los contenidos de la enseñanza y entre unas disciplinas y otras.

*Diversidad: Los estudiantes consideran las diversas formas en que la gente aprende (estilos de aprendizaje, inteligencias múltiples, estudiantes excepcionales, educación especial…). Ponderan, además, sus reacciones como educadores ante las diferencias de raza, clase, género, preferencia sexual, creencias religiosas o espirituales y consideran cómo estas reacciones pueden afectar el proceso de aprendizaje de sus estudiantes. Se invita a que reflexionen sobre si existen elementos comunes entre los seres humanos que deban tomarse en cuenta también al enseñar.

*Ambientes motivadores. Los estudiantes se expresan sobre posibles estrategias de enseñanza y ambientes motivadores que promuevan el aprendizaje de su materia o disciplina y el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico, tomando en cuenta las conexiones entre unas disciplinas y otras, la diversidad de los estudiantes y el uso de la tecnología.

Learning and teaching

In this Seminar students are directed to focus their attention on the activities of learning and teaching. They are invited to critically and imaginatively consider the contents of their discipline, the interconnections between them, the diversity in human learning, the use of technology and the development of critical thinking. In particular, the reflection revolves around the following

issues:

* Disciplines and interdisciplinarity: Students think about their discipline, their core questions, methods and interconnections between the contents of teaching and between disciplines and others.

* Diversity: Students consider the various ways people learn (learning styles, multiple intelligences, exceptional students, special education ...). They also ponder their reactions as educators to differences of race, class, gender, sexual preference, religious or spiritual beliefs, and consider how these reactions may affect the learning process of their students. Students are invited to reflect on whether there are common elements among human beings that should also be taken into account when teaching.

* Motivating environments. Students express possible teaching strategies and motivating environments that promote the learning of their subject or discipline and the development of critical thinking, taking into account the connections between disciplines and others, the diversity of students and the use of technology
