SEI Endorsement

All Massachusetts teachers in core academic positions and all administrators must receive their Sheltered English Immersion endorsement. 

Please note that Boston Public Schools offers free SEI endorsement courses at least twice every year.  We encourage you to sign up for these free courses for two reasons:

1) SEI endorsement courses usually take place through a university and therefore are expensive; and

2) the SEI MTEL is not an easy MTEL so we encourage people to take part in the course instead.

Advice:

Focus on the ELD standards and the WIDA Can Do Descriptors

Create an account and take the ACCESS training, especially in terms of internalizing the WIDA levels for speaking .
