Please see the UP Certification Guide - which details the entire process of becoming certified in Massachusetts, from applying for a license to registering for the MTELs, to submission of documentation, and finally, earning your certification.
Please note that you can find a step-by-step guide and video of how to apply in the Important ELAR Information page as well.
Here's a chart of what MTELS and requirements are needed for each licensure. Use this as a starting point for signing up for your MTELs.
Certification Requirements for UP Elementary Teachers
Certification Requirements for UP Middle School Teachers
Certification Requirements for UP Related Service Providers (RSPs)

Additional Resources:
Professional Development Tracker: if your licensure requires hours of PD, use this tracker (make a copy) to keep a list of all of the PD sessions that are relevant for your needed areas. When you have completed the hours, please send this list to certification@upeducationnetwork.org to receive a verification letter to upload to your ELAR account.
Please note that to advance to a professional license or in order to apply for the Class Measures Initial Performance Review Program for Initial Licensure, it will be necessary to provide proof of professional development. I would strongly recommend that you keep track using the tracker above.
For Special Education Teachers: Your licensure requires an additional step, the Structured Guidance and Supports Pathway. Please see the Special Education Teacher Licensure tab for more information.
For Administrators: Your licensure requires additional mentorship and induction as well as the PALS Task. Please see the Admin licensure tab for more information.
