Al finalizar el nivel, el estudiante comprenderá los puntos principales de textos de nivel intermedio en lenguaje estándar, sobre todo si tratan de situaciones habituales como el trabajo, el estudio o el entretenimiento. El estudiante manejará la mayoría de las situaciones que pueden surgir durante un viaje a lugares donde se habla inglés. El estudiante producirá textos sencillos y coherentes sobre temas familiares y no tan familiares y en los que tiene un interés personal. El estudiante describirá experiencias, eventos, deseos y aspiraciones, así como justificará opiniones o explicará planes de manera detallada.

Goal

Students will be able to understand the main points of intermediate-level texts in standard language, especially if they deal with situations that are common, such as work, study or entertainment. Students will be able to handle most of the situations that may arise during a trip to places where English is spoken. Students will be able to produce simple and coherent texts on topics that are familiar and not so familiar and in which they have a personal interest. Students will be able to describe experiences, events, wishes, and aspirations as well as mindfully justify opinions or explain plans.  

• El estudiante infiere información identificando la relación entre las ideas principales y los detalles de apoyo en textos orales y escritos sobre asuntos que se encuentran habitualmente en el trabajo, la escuela o las noticias.

• El estudiante identifica conectores que muestran causa y efecto, secuencia, condición, así como el tono del autor, tanto en textos escritos como orales.

• El estudiante reconoce y utiliza estructuras gramaticales intermedias para comunicar situaciones hipotéticas, referirse a diferentes tiempos verbales, dar recomendaciones y describir eventos cronológicos en contextos académicos. 

• El estudiante selecciona de una amplia variedad de vocabulario para hablar acerca del trabajo, la escuela, problemas ambientales o temas relacionados con la diversión, incluyendo, pero no limitado a colocaciones, verbos frasales, adjetivos con prefijos específicos, adverbios y frases adverbiales.

• El estudiante propone soluciones utilizando evidencia de apoyo y considerando una situación dada en una variedad de temas, utilizando diferentes tiempos verbales, tanto en voz activa como pasiva. 

• El estudiante describe eventos y escribe un resumen efectivo acerca de una variedad de temas, integrando diferentes marcadores discursivos, palabras de secuencia y una variedad de estructuras gramaticales de nivel intermedio.

• The student infers information by identifying the relationship between main ideas and supporting details in written and oral texts on matters regularly encountered in work, school, and the news.

• The student identifies connectors showing cause and effect, sequence, condition, as well as the author's tone in both written or oral texts.

• The student recognizes and uses intermediate grammar structures to communicate hypothetical situations, to refer to different time frames, to give advice, and to describe chronological events within academic contexts. 

• The student selects from a wide variety of vocabulary to talk about work, school, environmental issues, or leisure-related topics, including but not limited to collocations, phrasal verbs, adjectives with specific suffixes, adverbs, and adverbial phrases.

• The student proposes solutions using supporting evidence and considering a given situation on a variety of topics using different time frames in both active and passive voice.

• The student describes events and writes an effective summary on a variety of topics, integrating different discourse markers, sequence words, and a diversity of intermediate grammatical structures.
