Knowledge Sharing Platform
Knowledge-sharing platforms enable disseminating relevant knowledge and efficient decision-making to address problems. The content of this study’s knowledge-sharing platform houses all the significant knowledge needed to solve problems related to the seven small crater lakes in San Pablo City, Laguna. The CPAF, UPLB research team recognizes the contribution of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), San Pablo City LGU, and the fisherfolks who participated in the Focus Group Discussions (FGD) from each lake. Two web-based applications were used- Google Sites and Google Studio. The Google Sites application was used for the main platform, while the Google Looker Studio housed most data visualizations (dashboard) embedded in the Google Sites. The idea of using two web applications stemmed from segmenting the knowledge needs of the target users- the technical group and the layman who might not be as well versed in reading graphs and technical maps.
A technical group/ individual might prefer viewing an interactive bubble map depicting the land use of the lakes’ periphery, including the visual distribution of fish cages over the years, as per fisherfolks.
Furthermore, there are options for platform users to access the information by lake. This is in case the users want to gain more insights only on a specific lake.
The platform was designed to bridge the gap between technical information and local knowledge of fisherfolks, which is crucial to creating solutions and innovations and developing policies for lake governance. A feedback feature was made available wherein platform users could connect to the research team. This is deemed significant as it could enhance network expansion and encourage new knowledge creation on lake governance. It could also foster a positive user experience as they would feel heard, their inquiries addressed, and their knowledge needs satisfied.
