Dr. Ines Alcantara-De Guzman is a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, Master of Home Economics, and PhD in Home Economics graduate of the College of Home Economics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. She has served in various capacities as: Practical Arts, Home Economics and Technology, Technology and Livelihood Education, and Computer Education teacher, Subject Area Coordinator, and Assistant Principal for Student Affairs in Maryknoll/Miriam College High School, Quezon City (S.Y. 1979-2010); Vice President and Board Member of the Miriam College Association of Retired Employees (MCARE); Senior Lecturer, Fulltime Faculty Member and Department Chair, Home Economics Education Department, College of Home Economics, University of the Philippines-Diliman (A.Y. 2010-2015); President, Council of Deans and Heads in Home Economics and Livelihood Education of the Philippines, Inc. (CODHHELEP, Inc.) A.Y. 2014-2015 where she spearheaded the first National Training Program (Aklan State University, Banga, Aklan) and the 2nd National Convention and Seminar-workshop (Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa, Manila) for Home Economics and Technology and Livelihood Education teachers; Accreditor (Faculty Area) Philippine Accrediting Association for Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) from School Year 1996 to present;
She has developed and conducted trainings and seminar-workshops for Technology and Home Economics teachers since 1990 to the present and has written over 50 textbooks and supplementary materials under various local publishers. She has attended, conducted, and presented home economics-related researches in local and international conferences like Taipei, Bangkok, Malaysia, and Singapore; has published a research article in a peer-reviewed international Journal, Journal of Science and Technology (May 2013).
She was presented the Distinguished Award in Education Innovation by the University of the Philippines Home Economics Alumni Association (UPHEAA) in 2016. She was also conferred the James Meany Award for her exemplary service as an accreditor and for her contribution to the growth of accreditation in the country and for continuing passion for excellence by PAASCU in 2018.
At present, though retired, she is still actively involved in many undertakings such as: Consultant of Home Economics and Technology Teachers’ Organization, Inc. (HETTOP), author/editor of Golden Cronica Pub., Inc., subject matter expert editor of C&E Publications, article reviewer of an international journal, and PAASCU accreditor (Faculty Area).
