PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The provision of thesis and dissertation assistance is a study grant for deserving and capable AEWs from DA, SUCs and LGUs to support their completion of a higher education degree in AF and related courses through a financial subsidy aiding the conduct of their research studies.

GOAL

The program ultimately aims to empower the AEWs with opportunities for career development and develop a pool of community management professionals and subject matter specialists on social and production technologies through the provision of scholarship support in the form of thesis and dissertation assistance.

OBJECTIVES

The provision of Thesis and Dissertation Assistance aims to produce a pool of professionals, competitive and well-equipped extension workers that are ready to serve the Agriculture and Fisheries (AF) sector.

Specifically, it aims to:

1. Offer research study support to AEWs from DA, SUCs and LGUs to aid them in completing a chosen degree in pursuant of their post-graduate studies; and

2. Produce researches in AF and related fields that could be useful in addressing prevailing issues of the sector.

SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT AND PRIVILEGES

Recipients of the thesis allowance grant for Master's Degree shall receive One Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP 100,000) per scholar while dissertation allowance subsidy for Doctorate Degree scholars shall be Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Pesos (PhP 250,000).

STATUS OF TDA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

There are 33 out of 35 grantees with completed research studies. It is composed of Batch 1 and 2, with 20 and 15 grantees, respectively.

There is one scholar who have requested for an extension and another one who was terminaed. Overall, at present the program is 94.2% completed.

The TDA provides financial assistance for the conduct of both PhD Dissertation and MS Thesis related to agriculture and fisheries.

Currently, 23 grantees are pursuing MS Thesis, while the remaining 12 are completing their PhD dissertations.

STATUS OF TDA SCHOLARS

Most of the research study focuses on the top three topics, namely- Agronomy, Animal Science, and Agricultural Extension and Policies.

The third area of study with the highest number of researchers is Plant Science which is the study of plants encompassing the field of Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, among others.

While the rest is distributed to Aquaculture, and Sustainable Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, and Agricultural Policy/Extension.

Provided that there are already existing studies on Agronomy and Animal Science, other research priority areas may be considered in the succeeding implementation.
