Reserve & Circulation

Reserve Collection

If the book you’re looking for is highly in demand, chances are, it’s in the Reserve Section, kept on the shelves behind the counters of the main atrium of the library. You will have to fill out a request slip and then leave your ID at the counter if you want to read it inside the room. You can borrow two books at a time.

You can also bring out the book if you like, but only for one night (maximum of two books). You can claim it starting at 3:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays; and beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays (better have it reserved as early as possible), but be sure to return it before 9:30 a.m. (if you are an undergraduate student) or 4:00 p.m. (if you are a graduate student) the next day to avoid paying  P5.00 for the first hour and the following hours, P50.00 for an entire day, including Sundays and holidays (whoah, that’s a lot!). Not only that, failure to return it on time merits an offense.

Regular Circulation Collection

Freely accessible, books in the Circulation Section are arranged according to their call numbers on the shelves found in one corner of the library (see floorplan, pages 6-7). You will have to search for the call numbers of the books you’re looking for through OPAC: Online Public Access Catalog (In case you’re wondering what it is, it’s merely a computerized form of card catalog where you can find what you want in seconds!).

Once you have the alpha-numeric codes, it’s time to hunt those books down. Are you having a hard time?

You can always approach any of the library staff for help.

You can borrow up to five circulation books at a time if you are an undergraduate student; ten books if you are a graduate student. You can keep the books with you for up to two weeks. Beyond that, you will be charged P2.00 a day. Good news: Sundays and holidays are not included—bad news: you can’t borrow another book if you have an overdue loan.
