Artist's Profile
I’m Edison Rodriguez. I've been passionate about doing art since I was in elementary school. Now, I'm exploring using different mediums in art-making and familiarizing myself with different art styles and techniques to enhance my skills and creativity.
I don't create art because of the meaning. I'm creating art simply because I want it. I just let anyone who sees my artwork give their best interpretation of it. For me, that's what makes my artwork special.

“Buhay na malayo
ang agwat sa iba
Kayod mag-araw
samantalang iba’y nakahiga
Hiling na ginhawa
tila’y malabo nang maabot pa
Tawag sa itaas
yan ang tanging magagawa”
A cityscape painting I made for my Painting class using impasto, scumbling, and sfumato techniques.
Paglipas ng Panahon
Acrylic on canvas

“Kay bilis lumipas ng panahon
Alin ba ang mahalaga ngayon?
Nakabase sa mga kondisyon?
Anong klaseng relasyon”
Based on the theme “Noon at Ngayon”. This painting depicts how courtship and dating practices in the Philippines change over time.
Breath of Freedom
Acrylic on canvas
13 x 9 inches

"Kanino tayo nabubuhay?
Sa sarili ba o sa dikta ng iba?
Konseptong hirap makawala
Ngunit ‘pag sa puso na nagmula
Tiyak putol ang tanikala"
A surrealist painting I made showing how metamorphosis looks when it epitomized human life.
Anong nasa likod?

“Tanggalin ang kasuotan
Sapagkat ito’y mapanlinlang
Buksan ang isipan
Para itoy maunawaan”
This drawing is my first entry for my visual diary where I’m experimenting with how contrast works using different mediums.
Exhausted
Graphite and ink on paper

“Asan na ba ako?
Tila’y malayo pa sa dulo
Bawat hakbang ramdam ang pagsuko
Parang bansang walang asenso”
I’m studying poses for my visual diary then I tried to take a picture of my self showing how I look when I’m tired. I just love how dynamic it is, so I used it as my reference for my visual diary.
Ako Laban sa Sarili
Graphite and ink on paper
12 x 9 inches
2020
“Takot ay harapin
Sarili’y pandayin
At lalong patalimin
Sa paghiwa ng laman
Siyang pagbawas ng karamdaman”
The time when my anxiety is killing me. I can’t escape. This piece is a clear representation of what I felt during that time.
Hipokrito
Ink on illustration board
15 x 10 inches
January 2021
“Aling turo ang tama?
Sa bahay na puno ng pag-asa
Ngunit sukli’y pagkadaralita
Ngayon, kanino na maniniwala?”
I created this artwork as my take on the issue of art and religion for our subject Philippine Arts. The artwork shows that even churches, especially in the Philippines, are not safe for some, specifically for children.
SWSWSW
Acrylic on illustration board
12 x 16 inches

"Sa pagdampi ng iyong mga paa
Pagod ko’y nawawala
Sa pagdaan mo sa bintana
Gulat ako sa bitbit mong daga
Salamat sa ‘yo kaibigan
Buhay ko’y gumaan”
I have a cat who is always sleeping on my drawing table and sometimes she drinks my coffee too. I think she wants me to draw her, so I came up with the idea to use her as my reference for my Pop art plate.
Bletilla striata
Watercolor on vellum board
4 x 5 inches
September 2020
“Nakakabali ng tingin
Ganda mong kapansin-pansin
Bango mong bitbit ng hangin
Ito’y nagpapakalma sa akin”
This artwork is one of the series I made for a watercolor plate for my Painting class.

“Damhin ang paglaya
Sa pusong umaapaw ang saya
Tanggalin ang pangamba
Sapagkat ito’y ayos na”
A plate I made for Philippine Traditional Arts, and it’s also a gift for my Lola because she loves butterflies. Sadly, she wasn’t able to see it or either touch it.
