Bioresource Centers (BRCs) are repositories of plant, animal, and microbial species as well as their tissues, cell lines, and genetic information. The uses of BRCs cut across a wide range of fields as scientific resources are made available to research agencies, educational institutions, and the government.
Biodiversity: conservation, authentication, systematics (taxonomy), and collection of plant resources for research and other purposes
Biodiversity: conservation, authentication, systematics (taxonomy), and collection of animal resources for research and other purposes
Biotechnology: use of emerging molecular techniques to develop species (and their products and processes) for agricultural applications and industrial applications
Biobanking: establishment and of, and access to databases of animal, plant, and microbial resources; regulations and laws relevant to access to biological resource, bioprospecting, and benefit sharing
