I am Dr. Hawar Khalil Taher (Nerwiy), Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern Studies in International Relations at the University of Duhok. My passion lies in exploring the ever-changing political landscape of the Middle East, with a particular focus on the Kurdish question, state-society dynamics, and contemporary security issues.

For over two decades, the Netherlands has been my academic home. During this time, I have pursued degrees at prestigious universities throughout the country, culminating in a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies from Leiden University (2012). My doctoral thesis delved into three key areas:
